One of the many hats worn by Sheriff Knezovich is the Director of Emergency Management. I have worked within the Spokane County Sheriff's Department for 31 years. For the past 23 years I've worked within the Department of Emergency Management and have been the Deputy Director of Emergency Management working directly with the Sheriff for the last six years.
In the past 23 years, I have experienced seven Federally declared disasters and numerous major incidents involving Emergency Management. Two of those Federal disasters and several major incidents have been under the direct supervision of Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich.
Sheriff Knezovich's leadership is beyond reproach, as is his dedication to ensuring the safety of the citizens and the first responders. This dedication to safety is matched by his commitment to implement ways to improve emergency management services and implement active and pro-active change. This has earned him my respect and the respect of other first responders.
His dedication to the community that he serves is evident not only during those times of emergencies, but in his insight and support to ensure a better pre-planned emergency response for our community as well.
I fully support Sheriff Knezovich for his re-election as Sheriff and Director of Spokane Emergency Management.
Thomas F. Mattern
